The lyrics for this track came one night when I was riding home from the city and it was one of the first warm nights of the summer of 2012. You could tell everyone was just bustin' to be out and about on the streets.
I'd been thinking for a while that I wanted to right a song about Melbourne and what better time than in the summer!
The following Sunday my friend asked me to baby sit his children. When I arrived he told me they had tickets to Femi Kuti. Femi Kuti! What! You didn't tell me you were going to see him. I was slightly peeved that my friend had not eluded to this fact, when he knew well that I would totally be into going to this show.I love afro funk fan and well Fella Kuti's son is about as close as you can get.
So anyway I waved goodbye like a little puppy being left at home alone for the first time. 10 minutes later another friend texts me and says 'Hey! I've got an artist pass to see Femi Kuti, it's access all areas, you wanna come?' Nooooooooooo I couldn't believe it. Double whammy.
Anyway I put the kids to bed and with some Joseph Campbell documentary playing in the back ground on the TV screen I made this track in the living room of my friends house.
